What Is Alpha‒Gal Syndrome?
Alpha-Gal (short for galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose) is a sugar molecule found in the meat of non-primate mammals—like beef, pork, lamb, dairy, and venison. People with Alpha-Gal Syndrome develop an allergy to this sugar, often hours after consuming red meat or even gelatin-based products.
